Chargers' Bud Dupree: Past hamstring injury
    11h ago

Dupree, who missed the Chargers' lone playoff game last season due to a hamstring issue, is participating in OTAs, Daniel Popper of The Athletic reports.

Dupree hurt his hamstring in Week 18 last season and had to sit out the Chargers' wild-card round loss to New England. However, his attendance during OTAs suggests that the veteran linebacker is back to full health. Dupree started just five of the 16 games in which he played last year and is slated for a similar role in 2026, as Tuli Tuipulotu and Khalil Mack are back as Los Angeles' starting outside linebackers.

Broncos' Jonathon Cooper: Excused from minicamp
    13h ago

The Broncos excused Cooper from this week's mandatory minicamp, Jeff Legwold of ESPN reports.

"He's taking this time, obviously, he's got to work on himself,'' coach Sean Payton said Tuesday of Cooper, who was arrested twice during a seven-day span earlier this month on multiple domestic violence charges, including one felony. When asked if the Broncos planned to let the legal process conclude before a decision on Cooper's future with the team is made, Payton said: "There's a process period from the league and that involves the local law enforcement. We'll continue to gather that information.'' Regarding the linebacker's legal situation, a league spokesman said last week that the NFL was monitoring the case.

Tigers' Troy Melton: Looks ready to start Saturday
    9m ago

Melton (back) is listed as the Tigers' probable starting pitcher for Saturday's game against the White Sox in Detroit, Chris McCosky of The Detroit News reports.

Detroit scratched Melton ahead of his previously scheduled start Monday in Houston after he experienced general back tightness leading up to the contest, but he's apparently recovered well from the injury over the past couple of days. The Tigers will have the luxury of managing Melton's workload Saturday if they want to go that route, as Keider Montero's recent move out of the rotation provides the team with another option in the bullpen who's capable of covering multiple innings. Melton has fared well thus far in his four starts for Detroit since returning from a season-opening stint on the injured list, turning in a 2.81 ERA, 1.01 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB across 25.2 innings.

Phillies' Trea Turner: Back in starting nine Wednesday
    14m ago

Turner (wrist) will start at shortstop and bat leadoff in Wednesday's game against the Marlins.

Though X-rays on Turner's right wrist returned negative after he was hit by a pitch in Monday's 7-0 win in the series opener, the Phillies elected to hold the 32-year-old out of the lineup Tuesday while he dealt with some painful bruising. The day off was apparently sufficient time for Turner to recover, as he'll slot back into his usual spot in the field for the series finale. Even before hurting his wrist, Turner had been enduring a rough start to the season; he'll take a career-low .594 OPS -- down 218 points from 2025 -- into Wednesday's contest.

Cardinals' Joshua Baez: Has four-homer game at Triple-A
    18m ago

Baez went 4-for-5 with four home runs and seven RBI in Triple-A Memphis' win over Nashville on Tuesday.

Baez went deep in each of his first three trips to the plate before he grounded out back to the pitcher in the seventh inning. He then got another chance in the eighth inning and smashed a solo blast. Baez has an incredible 12 long balls over his last 18 games, pushing his total on the season to a career-high 23. He's also stolen 12 bases in 13 attempts and boasts a .976 OPS. Baez's best path to playing time with the Cardinals is in center field, and most of his starts have come at that position (35). However, Baez has played right field in each of his last three contests, which could indicate a promotion to the majors is not imminent.

The speedy infielder is up to 26 steals on the year and remains one behind Tuesday's opponent, Bobby Witt, for the major-league lead. Nunez's two triples in the same game also tied a franchise record, with Daylen Lile having most recently tied the mark in September of last season. Griffin didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Royals, allowing one run on six hits and two walks over six innings. He struck out six.

The 30-year-old lefty produced his second straight quality start and seventh of the season on 100 pitches (74 strikes), but Griffin saw his eighth win slip away when the Nationals' bullpen coughed up a two-run lead in the top of the seventh inning. Griffin has been locked in over his last five outings, posting a 1.93 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 26:5 K:BB though 28 innings. He'll look to keep rolling in his next start, which is scheduled to come at home early next week against the Phillies.

Matthews (3-4) earned the win Tuesday against the Rangers after tossing seven innings of two-run ball, allowing eight hits and striking out four.

Matthews has been involved in the decision in each of his seven starts this season, but this was a big bounce-back outing after giving up seven runs on nine hits across six innings in a road loss to the Tigers the last time out. Matthews has five quality starts already and has pitched at least six frames in all but one of his seven appearances. He'll take a 4.78 ERA and 1.18 WHIP to his next start, scheduled for next week at home versus the Dodgers.

Colton and Isak Posch were traded to Nashville from Colorado in exchange for Magnus Chrona, a 2026 third-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick.

Colton will suit up for his former Central Division rival in the 2026-27 campaign following his move to the Predators. Earlier in June, Nashville named Chris MacFarland the team's new President of Hockey Operations, who spent four years in Colorado before taking his new gig. Across 73 regular-season games in 2025-26, Colton compiled nine goals, 15 assists, 153 shots on net, 159 hits and 25 blocked shots. He'll likely slot into a middle-six role for the Predators, who were in need of forward depth after another season where they missed the playoffs. Colton's toughness could help fill the hits gap that Michael McCarron left behind after Nashville traded their former alternate captain away at the 2026 trade deadline.
